Destination Event brief: Our London based clients are a family that has travelled, and lived in many parts of the world.  Friends scattered around the globe.  Family in Ireland too.  How to gather all to celebrate Paul’s 50th birthday in a beautiful destination – well, you choose Franschoek!

Franschoek it was for a three day event, starting or ending with a safari and time on the beach.  We rented a number of villas for them in Bakoven and transferred our clients to Le Quartier for the start of the festive weekend.  LQF is so child friendly, like little wandering minstrels they were, spending time at the pool, chatting up the staff, totally at home. Based in the heart of Franschoek, stepping over the road for a great De Villiers coffee/ice-cream or ambling to immerse the spirit in art, culture and cuisine. Plenty of spending at the Saturday Farmer’s market.

Friday evening and our guests were collected by Winelands Experience

Louis and his team were fabulous and we cannot recommend them highly enough.  So accommodating and right on time, our guests were safely delivered to Bread and Wine

Nestled in the heart of Môreson Wine Estate, Bread and Wine was our obvious choice for this Welcome Party.  Tina and her superb team with the biggest hearts and smiles greeted all with the ever gorgeous Miss Molly Bubbly, the kind of pink hue that the sun paints on the surrounding mountains at sunset.  The scenery is one of space, the children and many of the adults playing touch on the expansive lawn, and then that magical walk down to the restaurant – fairy lights magic time.

Thank you to Tina, Neil, all at Bread and Wine, and Tarryn James for entertaining in your own special way. Môreson provided the wines.  South African hospitality on a luxury scale for all to enjoy, the food, the place, the people – the perfect setting for a fun filled weekend.

Saturday evening and guests were collected at the various accommodation venues for their drive to the stunning Roca restaurant at Dieu Donne Estate.  Janine and her team worked tirelessly to provide the perfect welcome on the Terrace where guests were entertained by Judy from CODA on sax. The view over the valley and Franschoek is why we love South Africa so much!  Thanks to the exceptional floral dynamo Heike at Fleur le Cordeur

who captured the brief and added her own magical essence.  Thanks to Heila and Margie and the rest of the team for putting it together so beautifully.  The night soon turned into a party of note – the Irish know how to party for sure – and of course when the world famous CODA

who spun their special sound, no-one could sit still for a minute longer!

No evening would be complete without a special creation cake from The Birdcage

Peppermint Crisp tart with macarons for the man of the moment. Who could resist.

As Wedding and Event planners do, we waited until the we felt it time to go.  All had worked to plan, the brief complete, the guests and clients dancing the night away.  All these special moments captured by the elegantly charming Angelique Smith photography

More to follow from this talented women – so love working with her.

Planning an event for a client who lives far from Franschoek, who is willing to let us design the brief with total enthusiasm and complete belief, is a dream come true.  We knew what would make the weekend memorable, who we wanted to have be part of the experience and as true professionals, everything fell into place, highlighted the incredible talent here in South Africa and left a lasting impression. Working with the right people is crucial in this business, and we did.  We salute all who were involved in this event, it would not have been possible without you and hope to do more in the future, and to my lovely clients – you were by far the best family we could have hoped to work with.

South Africa is such an amazing place to visit. Even better to choose as a destination event for your wedding or special celebration.  London Green Africa can offer you a full travel and event portfolio to enjoy a stress free journey of discovery and fun.
